A few things about me
A few things about me
Hi, my name is Lamprini!
I am a Clinical Dietitian - Nutritionist, specializing in the treatment of Eating Disorders and Obesity, and also a certified NLP Wellbeing Coach.
My journey into this profession has been anything but coincidental.
Influenced by personal experiences of childhood obesity, atypical anorexia nervosa during my teenage years, and binge-eating disorder later in college, I navigated through what I once perceived as 'dark' times but which now serve as vital lessons in my personal evolutionary process.
Since a young age, my battle with weight has ignited in me a profound interest in everything related to nutrition. Thus, despite facing objections from those around me, I remained resolute in pursuing a career in this field. All this, propelled by an inner voice insisting that true proficiency arises from a deep passion for one's work.
After graduating in 2005, I embarked on my professional journey, starting with a position at a well - known chain of weight loss centers.
However, during my brief two-month stint as a dietitian there, I discovered a profound systemic misalignment with my values. Their focus on sales and the practice of fostering client insecurity, rather than nurturing genuine well-being, went against my principles. There was a constant need to underscore and demonstrate the importance of our services. The existing diets were generic, lacking precision, and overlooked individual requirements. Our tools were confined to paper, pens, and scales, and the time allocated to each client was minimal. This initial experience shed light on all those practices I aimed to avoid in my interactions with clients. Subsequently, it motivated me to progressively explore and define the approach I aspired to adopt—one grounded in science and tailored to the unique needs of each individual.
In 2006, I founded my private professional practice in my hometown. As I applied my academic knowledge with great enthusiasm, a gap in my approach became apparent. Although I could make an impact during our sessions, achieving long-term progress proved challenging for many of my clients. Despite my endeavors to broaden their perspectives, numerous clients found it difficult to make substantial, lasting improvements. This awareness prompted me to delve further into refining my methods and seeking more effective ways to facilitate enduring change.
My journey into specialization commenced with a dedicated focus on Eating Disorders and Obesity, undergoing training under seasoned psychologists. This phase marked a transformative period for me as I gained heightened awareness of my own eating experiences and initiated a recalibration of my professional approach. The concept of the 'perfect diet' was cast aside, paving the way for a more nuanced and comprehensive understanding of each individual’s needs.
Moving away from conventional diet prescriptions, I began to explore the diverse facets of my clients' lives, aiming to comprehend the factors that influence their nutritional behavior. Embracing a holistic approach, my goal shifted from solely focusing on weight loss through restrictive diets to addressing the root causes of their challenges.
The impact was profound, as clients were initially taken aback by the concept of achieving weight loss without resorting to traditional dieting methods. As they witnessed tangible results and experienced a newfound sense of relief and calmness, they actively embraced a different approach.
The shift towards a more holistic perspective empowered clients to focus on long-term weight loss maintenance rather than opting for short-term fixes.
In our sessions, clients now find solace in the absence of rigid, weight-focused practices such as constant weighing and meticulous gram counting. They acknowledge the necessity for a fundamental shift in their eating behavior, emphasizing a sustainable approach that prioritizes lasting changes over temporary restrictions on specific foods or calorie counts.
In 2020, I incorporated my new specializations in NLP, Wellbeing, and Coaching to complement and reinforce the strategies for achieving and sustaining long-term behavior change.
From that juncture, my focus expanded beyond the purely nutritional aspect to encompass overall well-being.
The challenge may not solely lie in a person's knowledge of proper nutrition but in consistently encountering obstacles that hinder their efforts to eat healthily.
These obstacles might be rooted in various aspects of their life and daily routine.
Throughout my sessions, I employ NLP and Coaching techniques to underscore the importance of one's thought processes and resulting behaviors, emphasizing that genuine change originates from a shift in mindset.
I invite you to join me on a transformative journey towards self-awareness and personal development centered around well-being.
